Georgian Mahogany Chest on Chest

19th century
Description

A superb Georgian mahogany Chest on Chest dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. This impressive piece is in very good original condition with round brass pull handles. There is a dentil moulding on the cornice and the upper section has attractive chamfered corners and boxwood stringing. The whole piece stands on its original tall bracket feet and the mahogany has a wonderful rich colour and patination. The top section and the cornice comes off to split into three parts to make transport easier.

The whole piece is in very good condition. It is sturdy and the drawers are generally clean and tidy and all run well. There are no major damages however there have been a few small repairs to the veneer around the drawers and there is a repaired chip on one side (see photo) but nothing detrimental. Overall it displays very well and has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
