Spectacular Amritsar Carpet, India, 5.30m X 4.30m

19th century
Description

Very limited range of colours but used in a very exotic way. Note the two shades of green. The design is expressive and beautiful, in fact I have never seen anything like it! Hand-made in the famous Amristar carpet workshops circa 1880. Very solid structure, so hardwearing. Minimal signs of use which one would expect for a carpet of this age. Original ends intact, minimal restoration. This is a very impressive carpet woven in a palatial size. Professionally cleaned in my workshop. Home visits can be arranged by request.
