A Fine 17th Century Walnut Cassapanca.

Description

A fine 17th century and later walnut cassapanca lavishly carved with cherubs and foliage and having mythical winged beasts as arm rests. This piece was possibly a marriage gift for french and Italian couple as the cassapanca is generally associated with the Italian renaissance, however this piece has fleur de lis carved in the centre of the bottom front panel. This cassapanca has a large box seat with a lid that lifts up, which is ideal for storage.

The walnut timbers have fantastic colour and patination and it is in excellent condition.
