Description

A rare set of 17th century ,late renaissance repoussé bellows of fine colour and patination. These bellows are beautifully decorated either side with rope twist handle and lions masks , interlocking foliage and grape vines with a portrait centered and a stalk attacking a snake below.

The bellows have a bronze blow pipe fixed by two early rose head nails, the leather although intact is no longer supple and therefore the bellows no longer function. The bellows would function again if the leather was replaced, however they are interesting enough just as a relic.

The bellows have some knocks and losses all commiserate with age.
