Early C19th Italian carved giltwood display bracket.

Well-carved lime-wood bracket with original gesso and gilded surface . The oblong bracket of waisted form beneath the overhanging platform top . The body carved with scrolled leaf detail and tapering to a 'flambeau' type terminal / finial to the base .

The gilded surface having achieved a soft patina with atmospheric 'bleeding' in some areas where the red ground base is showing beneath the gilding. Minor losses to the gilding on some high points of the carving , but crucially retaining the original finish .

The hollowed reverse showing the hand carved finish. At present the bracket has no wall-fixings attached , but can be customised to client's specifications in order to enable hanging.
