1930s Waltham Riverside Deck Pocket Watch

Waltham Riverside deck pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Riverside grade, which is working nicely. The movement is exquisitely patterned. It is fully signed and has the serial number 17,097,145 which dates it back to 1918.

The movement also carries the military arrow and the code HW1050.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case was made by the Keystone Watch Case Company and it is marked as being silveroid. There is an HS3 mark together with the military arrow to the outside of the screw-on case back. The case is in lovely condition.

HS was the Hydrographic Service designation used by the Royal Navy for the grading of wrist and pocket watches. HS3 designates a Deck Watch adjusted for isochronism in a minimum of two positions.

The watch was probably made in the 1930s/40s using an earlier Waltham movement... this is something we have come across frequently in our research.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The signed dial is in good condition, blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
