Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The jug with the original pewter cover. The hinged cover with a domed top, and down swept rim, hinging with a shell decorated thumb grip. The cover fitting over the rim and spout of the body. The tall wasted neck above the rounded body, tapering to a circular foot rim. The neck decorated with spreading and rising leaves, whilst the body is painted with scenes of an oriental garden, and streams, around which oriental figures sit chatting, rest and an old lady walks carrying a parasol. The handle with dashed decoration.
