Arthur Reginald Smith RWS,RSW,ARCA 1871-1934.Landscape and figure painter in watercolour.Born and educated at Skipton-in -Craven,Yorkshire.Studied at Keighley School of Art and taught there for several years.In 1901 he went to the RCA where he obtained a his diploma in 1904.He received a travelling scholarship from the Painting School1905 and studied in Italy the following year.Exhibited at the R.A.,other leading London Galleries,in the provinces and abroad.Elected ARWS 1917,RWS 1925,RSW 1926,Represented in several public collections.He worked mainly in England and also widely in France.Received commissions to execute watercolours of the private apartments at Marlborough House,later at Buckingham Palace.Lived at Grassington in Yorkshire ,and drowned in the River Wharfe,near Bolton Abbey.’Snowy Winter Landscape In the Yorkshire Dales with Farmer and his dog in the Foreground’ signed watercolour , image size 23.5 x37 cms,framed size 47x62 cms
