This is a wonderful example of an Art-Deco cocktail shaker, by the highly esteemed Asprey & Co Ltd.
Made in solid sterling silver, it is hallmarked on the side for Birmingham 1926, with the maker''s mark of Asprey & Co Ltd. The second set of hallmarks on the lid are fairly rubbed but are still discernible.
Styled as a milk churn, the handle is angular and well-attached. The cocktail strainer is incorporated in the design of the lid, which fits very tightly. The cocktail shaker looks to be unused.
In terms of condition, there are a couple of very small dings on the body of the shaker, a slight crease to one side of the lid and a small area (about the size of a thumb print) on the side of the body where the silver appears to have ''wrinkled'', although there are absolutely no repairs evident: I would imagine this was a manufacturing fault.
