It is finely modelled in gilt bronze with bold scrolling acanthus, swept 'C' scroll feet, fretted panels and featuring a charming figure of a cherub with palm branches to the top, an allegory for victory. Candelabra are conforming in style with bold asymmetric urns and and twirling acanthus arms. This is a beautifully made set, crisply modelled and finished.
The dial is also gilt bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouches and original blued steel hands. The bezel is glazed with convex glass. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock running, please ask for a link.
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. There is a slight crack on one candelabra rear leg. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.
Cellier A Paris, clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate. Cellier is listed in Tardy Dictionnaire Des Horologers as working in 1869.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
