Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.

The lid lifts to reveal top-quality metalware fittings, the hinge to the right locking the lid in place; this hinge has to be squeezed to release the lid. The interior of the lid is fitted with a leather bound mirror. The top of the box has four compartments and a full width ring bank which can be removed with space below.

The front drops down revealing a velvet lined insert to sit jewellery. The top trays swivel to the sides revealing a further pair of trays with four shallow compartments each.
The nickel catch can then be released allowing these compartments to then swivel to the sides; each of these has a push button to the back releasing secret sprung drawers lined for rings and other jewels.

The leather lined interior has a further drawer to the back.
A true gem in superb condition complete with a working key. Victorian in era, dating to c.1860.
An impressive size measuring 13 1/2" x 10" x 8 1/2" while all closed up.
