An unusual solid sterling silver-lidded claret jug.
It is hallmarked on the rim for Birmingham 1891, with the maker''s mark for Hukin & Heath (John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton). There is also a patent number for the design.
The plain glass body has a bulbous shape with a glass handle. The hallmarked top and thumb piece are firmly attached and are in excellent condition, as in the glass. The thumb piece sways sideways but the hinge is good.
