Set Of Six Newcastle Antique Silver Serving / Tablespoons

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is an excellent set of six solid sterling silver table or serving spoons, assayed at the long-closed Newcastle Office.

They are hallmarked on the reverse of the finial for Newcastle 1839, with the maker''s mark of Reid & Sons (Christian Ker Reid, David Reid & Christian Bruce Reid). The hallmarks are crisp but the maker''s mark is visible only on one spoon. They carry a single struck King''s pattern and the finials are engraved with a small italic (R?). The silver is ruffled and uneven on the bowl of one spoon but is otherwise excellent
