In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The doors are strung with elastic to hold other papers. At the bottom of the box is a pull out leather writing slope which is released by pushing a pen down through a hole under the pen tray.
It has been very well made and although it has been used it has obviously been well looked after over the years. It is in good original condition and the oak has a lovely aged patina. There are signs of age and use and some small chips around the base but nothing detrimental and overall it displays very nicely.
