Each drawer has its original small turned knobs and the desk stands on squat bun feet with ceramic castors. The design, particularly the curved corners, makes it likely that it was originally on a ship.
It is a good large size with generous sitting room. The kneehole measures approximately 24 3/4" (63cm) high x 18" (46cm) wide
The desk is in excellent condition and is clean and tidy throughout. The timber is top quality and the patina on the mahogany is wonderful. The drawers open well and are in good clean condition. There are some minor signs of wear and age, some small knocks and light surface scratches but nothing detrimental. There have been some small repairs over the years to veneer around the drawers but overall it displays beautifully and is ready for use.
