Description

A lovely late Victorian letter box, made from solid English Oak and created to either use desk-top or to be hung on the wall.

These letter collection boxes date back to a more civilized time, when letters in a grand house would be placed in the caddy, collected by a member of the household staff to either be taken to the Post Office or hand-delivered.

The front has two handsome polished brass reticulated panels, above these are two shaped mounts engraved with Post and Delivery labelling the two compartments. Victorian in era, dating to around 1890. The footprint measures 10 1/2" x 4 1/2" and the back panel standing 7" tall.
