Description

A large 19th century Italian architectural trompe l'oeil panel, hand painted in oil on canvas in Renaissance style with a central grotesque mask flanked by swags of fruit, wheat and foliage, in a later wooden frame.

39cm x 229cm including frame.

A very decorative architectural panel that would have been part of an interior scheme. I has several old repairs (see photograph of reverse). Formerly the property of, and removed from, the actress Cleo Rose's castle 'Torre Petti' near Todi in Umbria (see last photograph for the panel in situ).
