Good French Repeating Carriage Clock

Description

Auguste Margaine: a good quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in perfect condition.

The "Corniche" case features bevelled glass panels to all four sides and an oval bevelled glass panel to the top with the unusual feature of the owners initials engraved to the underside. The 8-day movement, retaining its original platform lever escapement, strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, and repeats the hours at will.

Perfect enamel dial and original 'breguet' blued steel moon hands. Makers Trademark (a "beehive" clock flanked by the initials "A & M") is found on the backplate, and this good clock is complete with its original numbered key. 6.5ins high.
