Description

Superb quality large French walnut pedestal desk c.1880. 57" x 31" top with a leather work surface, moulded edges and extra sliding leaves at both ends (an unusual feature), over three drawers. Raised on twin three drawer pedestals flanked with crisply turned and fluted columns. Moulded drawer fronts with quality brass handles and raised on an elaborately moulded plinth. Suitable to stand in the centre of a room, the rear of the desk is panelled, with a board to fill the kneehole and also features the same turned columns as on the front. Oak drawer linings. The interior carries a couple of old Paris repository labels. Excellent condition and original colour. Fitted with a new leather skiver, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
