Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Not only is the size impressive, but so is the exquisite decoration and excellent condition.
The jar itself is channel cut and then engraved ... pretty as a picture with foliate garlands all round tied with four large ribbon and bows.

The lid is sterling silver hallmarked for London 1919 together with the makers initials CD.
The lid is set with a huge piece of glossy tortoiseshell, with highly decorative silver pique inlay.
Superb!!
