Victorian Teak Campaign Chest

Description

Victorian teak campaign trunk

This Victorian teak campaign trunk was made circa 1870 and would have been used by a British officer to transport his uniforms, personal items, and more valuable pieces around the Empire.

It is fitted flush brass corners and straps to protect this chest on its journey around the British Empire. These chests had to be able to withstand the arduous journeys of being hauled on mules, wagons, camel trains and other forms of transport over land and sea. As they were to be lashed to decks of ships and so had to withstand sea water teak was the ideal timber to use.

The lid lifts open to reveal an open storage area with a compartment with a lifting lid at each side, just imagine how much you could store in this trunk.

These chests are magical as they not only look superb, they spark the imagination to what events and battles they have experienced.

This can be used in many places around the home, especially great as a coffee table. Wherever you decide to place it this military chest will look superb in your home.
