Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The interior behind the cylinder is beautifully fitted out with many drawers, two compartments & a central cupboard with more marquetry. There is a pull out writing surface & a one long drawer below. The grain & patterns of the woods are fabulous. There are many inlays, swags, etc. & the marquetry is exquisite. There are three marquetry panels, one on the cylinder & two on the sides. Please enlarge all the images, because I couldn’t possibly describe everything. The tapered legs are rosewood & satinwood, ending with brass feet. One of many signs of quality are the way that the legs are finished on all four sides. Whoever made this item, had a very keen eye for detail & didn’t take any short cuts.
