Pair of 19th C Cut Glass Vases with Bowl Covers

Description

A Pair of Cut Glass Vases and Covers.

Each vase, confiture, with a lift off cover to provide a bowl. The cover with a flat finial top, decorated with a star burst. The covers domed with slice cut bands, surrounding a diamond cut band. The vases with fluted rims, waisted into orb bodies, decorated as per the covers with slice and diamond cut bands. The bodies flowing into stems with faceted orbs, above slice cut spreading socles, resting on square, downward sweeping plinths. The undersides of the plinths with star burst decoration.

The covers cleverly designed to form smaller bowls.

Date c 1850.
