Description

Fine set of eight late 19th.c. carved oak dining chairs c.1880. Six chairs and a matching pair of very substantial carver armchairs, with solid golden oak frames upholstered in an olive green faux leather. Padded backrest topped with a shaped cresting rail crisply carved with scrolling acanthus leaves and flanked with turned and carved rear stiles with snarling lion’s head finials. Shaped arms to the carvers with upholstered pads and further acanthus detail. Good sized seats with a carved apron at the front and sides. Raised on turned and carved front legs joined with an H stretcher for extra strength and with castors below the turned bun feet. Very good condition, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
