An unusual mahogany Art Nouveau bookcase bearing makers label for “ G.W.Hicks & Sons Ltd. Makers of High Grade Furniture. 32 & 33 Woodgrange Rd. London” The moulded cornice having boxwood and ebony inlay, the frieze with kingwood banding between boxwood and ebony stringing. The 2 glazed mahogany doors with turned ebony pull and open to 4 cross banded and boxwood strung adjustable shelves. The lower section having 2 Art Nouveau satinwood and boxwood inlaid drawers again with turned ebony pulls and cross banded stiles. The 2 lower doors having moulded and fielded panels with satinwood & ivorine inlay. The whole raised on short cabriole legs. Dimensions:- Height…88.25’’/ 224cm. Width…42.5’’/ 108cm.
