John Howkins Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The bottom centre drawer conceals a false drawer lining that when removed reveals 3 secret drawers one of which concealed the original invoice (see photo) which is dated 1907. The fall has a replaced burgundy tooled leather writing surface. The lock is stamped by the maker Wilhelm Haff of Germany but this wonderful writing cabinet was retailed in Winterthur, Switzerland. The lower section has 3 graduated drawers with turned escutcheons and all working locks with keys and the whole raised on a shaped plinth base. Condition - very good & original.
