Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The well-figured top features the iconic pen-and-ink compartment, accessed via the small hinged flap to the back, whilst the frieze below contains a long mahogany-lined drawer flanked by 'panelled' corners and sides. It is supported on slender well-turned legs terminating in cast brass castors. Dimensions: 28ins wide; 19.5ins deep; 29ins high (71x49.5x73.5cms)

Although unsigned (most Gillows furniture is not) this is a known Gillows design, which together with a number of other design features confirms that this is typical of this famous firm of cabinetmakers.
