Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency style dining chairs originated in early nineteenth-century Britain, drawing heavy inspiration from Greco-Roman classical architecture. They typically feature clean geometric lines, concave bar-back crest rails, and either turned or sabre front legs.

High-grade mahogany was the primary timber used due to its structural strength and rich grain patterns. Construction relied on traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery along with hand-turned legs and drop-in upholstered seat frames.

Authentic period chairs display hand-cut joinery, patinated wood finishes, and specific proportions characteristic of the era. Look for subtle variations in turned details and construction marks that indicate handwork rather than modern machine output.

Classical mahogany chairs can be paired with contemporary dining tables made from marble, glass, or light oak to establish contrast. Placing traditional carver chairs at the head and foot of a modern table adds architectural structure to the room.

Position chairs away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer bleaching. Apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year following the grain to nourish the wood and maintain the surface finish.
