A very decorative gilt brass cased portico clock set.
The gilt brass pendulum formed as a classical mask and is visible swinging below the movement. Above the movement are two Lions Rampant. Candelabra have caryatids for the stems to match the pillars of the clock and have three lights. The branches are modelled with stylised lions and are complete with original snuffers.
The dial is also gilt brass and is mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouche letters. The bezel is fitted with convex glass. The rear door of the case is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. Candelabra are slightly distorted and the front left hand foot of the clock is distorted, we think that this is an original casting fault. The dial is also in very good condition, the cartouches have no chips or scratches, just some wear to the lettering.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
