Late 19th Century Rosewood Officer Mess Clock With Ogee Base

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

A pristine Rosewood “Officer’s Mess” clock with a caddy top, Ogee base and fine quality single fusee movement.
The beautifully selected rosewood veneer is faultless on this late 19th century clock and clearly demonstrates the standard of the maker. This style of clock became popular from the mid 1800’s after Vulliamy manufactured one in 1840. The simple elegance along with the quality of the clocks of this style made them popular with government departments and this association gave them the name “ Officer’s Mess Clocks”.
This particular clock was sourced from a fine London home and has clearly been looked after. The single fusee movement is in a very good condition and has been totally overhauled by me so that I can give you a full 3 years guarantee for your peace of mind.
A lot of these clocks have a simple plain flat sided case with architectural top, however because this particular clock is just a little bit more elegant featuring the rarer Ogee base and “Caddy” top it gives it a rather better stance.
With over twenty five years experience in restoring and conserving clocks and working on some of the finest and complicated clocks for a select group of the best antique clock dealers in the country.
As well as this, Overton Clocks has now decided to offer our customers the opportunity to purchase fine antique clocks that have been personally selected for their unique or special features. Each clock has been expertly restored to the highest of standards by myself. Overton clocks ensures peace of mind in your investment, by personally offering three years warranty on all of our timepieces.
