Walking Stick Cane 1908 Hallmarked Solid Silver Pommel Malacca Wood Shaft James Smith

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Shires Antiques

Lovely Malacca hard wood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane.
The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1908
and makers mark for James Smith of New Oxford Street so super quality.
Lovely plain silver pommel free from engraving.
It measures 90 cm 35 1/2 inches in length, the pommel is 3 cm 1 1/8 inches wide
and 5 cm 1 7/8 inches long.
The ferrule is original and made of polished black buffalo horn.
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and
use as you'd expect at this age.
Some bumps, scratches and pitting to the silver as shown.
A small split in the middle of the seam line probably caused by the Malacca moving over time. Professionally stabilised so that it won't deteriorate. No proud edges so fine to use.
