~ French - Circa 1880 ~
~~ Excellent condition ~~
A very pretty antique French four glass table clock.
It features bevelled glass to the four sides, allowing the movement to be seen along with the mercury compensated pendulum. Enamel dial is delicately painted with floral swags between the numerals and is complete with the original finely fretted, gilt brass hands.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Ormolu Mercury compensated pendulum is original, there is some discolouration to the glass tubes containing the mercury. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on sonorous coiled gong. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the ormolu, just some minor wear to the gilding on the high points. Marble is also in excellent condition with only the occasional minor nibble to the edges and a lovely polish. The glass panels are very good, there is a small chip to the top left hand corner of the front door which is partially obscured by the frame (see the close up picture below). The dial is in good condition, there is some hairlining around the left hand winding hole. The clock displays beautifully as you can see in the pictures below.

Complete with original pendulum and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
