Sterling Silver Bachelor Chocolate Pot by Heming & Co, London 1932

Description

This exquisite and very unusual sterling silver chocolate pot bears the marks of Heming & Co, prestigious London jewellers and silversmiths.

The plain baluster body with a domed hinged lid applied with strap work and surmounted by an elegant ring finial and with shell thumb piece.

The side scroll handle cane-wrapped.

The base engraved with retailer's marks "HEMING & CO, CONDUIT STREET, LONDON" and the hallmarks.

The inner lid separately hallmarked.

Hallmarks:

H&Co Lts. for Heming & Co Ltd.

Lion Passant.

London Assay mark.

Date letter "r" for 1933.

Dimensions and weight:

Height: 17.5 cm - 7 inches

Diameter of base: 8.5cm / 3.2 inches.

Weight: 765g / 27 oz.

Condition:

Very good.

No dings or dents to the body.

Strong hinge.

Excellent set of marks.

Partial loss to the cane around the handle.
