Description

Very rare large antique military campaign style mahogany desk with a tooled leather writing surface & in excellent condition. There are three drawers on the front with fine dovetails, brass military handles & locks. There are brass carrying handles on the sides, plus brass fittings around the top & brass corner fittings all over. All the brass work is nicely aged. The base has ‘X’ framed sides, with a turned cross stretcher running between them. There are also mahogany corner pieces on the back & front. This desk is all solid mahogany & is very well constructed. I believe this desk has been adapted using antique Victorian & Georgian mahogany. The wood has loads of character, as has the brass work & the leather. It does come apart into two sections with the desk top just lifting off the base.
