Description

Dating to the late Victorian era, Biscuit boxes of this quality rarely appear on the market, especially of this size and in perfect condition, and by the highly sought-after silversmiths, Walker & Hall.

The silver plated base and hinged lid is beautifully engraved with foliate decoration. The top of the lid is blessed with a beautiful carved Ivory finial used to aid in the opening of the box.

The crystal is heavy and simply the best, with all-over deep cutting in the ever-popular hobnail design. Each corner has a double horizontal line cut for additional detail.

The caddy comes with a folding carrying handle, superb quality. The underside is where the makers mark W & H in the flag and underneath is written, Walker & Hall / Sheffield / England.

A fabulous heirloom example in superb condition, measuring 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 8" tall to top of carry handle and down to scroll feet. Dating to c.1890.
