Striking pair of Art Deco bookends, very weighty, superb quality and look amazing and a rare design. The backing is jet black vitrolite (compressed glass) which acts as the back drop to a chrome stylised Art Deco ladies profile. The base is solid marble and as such the combined end result is quite heavy, no cat will be knocking these over! Not only do they look impressive but they're functional too, ideal size for medium sized books. Dating to the 1930's and originating from Belgium these bookends are in excellent condition, no pitting to the chrome or tarnishing, the vitrolite free from chips and nibbles same as the marble bases.
