Description

Presented as found in original unrestored condition, this exceptional Louis XV style French marquetry side table c.1870. Just 32" wide and of beautiful shapely form. Stunning marquetry work top featuring an elaborate border of acanthus leaves and (very unusually) bulrushes around a centre cartouche with symmetrically arranged burr veneers. Over a serpentine shaped apron with figured tulipwood veneers and crossbanding on each side and single oak lined drawer in the front. Raised on slim cabriole legs front and rear. Original applied brass moulding to the edge of the top and superb original ormolu mounts to each side, legs and feet. Original lock. Missing the slim ormolu edge moulding from the front right hand leg.
