Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
There is a hallmark to the inside of this panel which matches the hallmark to the exterior of the main inkwell. The hallmark is for London 1903 together with the makers mark G B & Sons, a good Edwardian example.

The large domed top is hinged with a gilded interior, when opened reveals the glass ink chamber removable for easy re-filling and cleaning.
There is also an integral channel for one's dip pen to sit in to the front of the inkwell.

Excellent condition (a couple if minuscule dents, insignificant but mentioned purely for accuracy) measuring 4 1/4" deep x 3" wide x 3" tall.
A wonderful addition to a stamp box or inkwell collection.
