Description

A portrait of Beatrice Cenci a young Roman noblewoman who murdered her father Count Francesco Cenci after suffering years of rape and abuse at his hands. Lived 1577 and was beheaded in 1599 for his murder along with her stepmother and siblings who were also abused by him. A novel,a film,poetry and an opera have been written about this and Beatrice became a symbol among the people of Rome of resistance against the arrogant aristocracy and thus a legend arose. There is a £12 charge for postage and packing
