Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
We thought about re-leathering, but it’s really in keeping with the rest of the desk. The top section has cushioned sides all the way around. This can be lifted off the pedestals making it three sections for easy transportation. All the drawers fronts are burr walnut, with original brass handles, locks & escutcheons. The drawers are also finely dovetailed & they are oak lined. The drawer dividers are curved & the pedestals sit on solid walnut ogee bracket feet. This desk is finished off & polished on the back too, so is free standing. It’s wonderful quality, with a lovely mellow colour & like I said, it’s full of character. It’s also a great in-between size, not too large or too small, plus the kneehole space is very generous.
