South American Silver-gilt Horse & Jockey

1900 - 1920
Description

An unusual and charming South American SILVER-GILT model of a jockey astride his Arab racehorse, complete with saddle and reins.

The jockey, with long stirrups and wearing an old-fashioned peaked cap suggests a date of late 19th or early 20th century. It is mounted on a shallow variegated marble base whilst the integral cast base is marked: "Argentor". Perhaps Mexican or Argentinian? 5.5ins (14 cms) high.
