Below this is a single long drawer with the original brass swan-neck handles and the desk stands on square tapering legs.
It is in good condition and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The brass handles are original and the bureau interior is in very good condition although it is missing it's lock. The drawer opens smoothly and is generally clean and tidy. There are the usual signs of age and use and some minor marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. There are some minor signs of old woodworm in the side panels which has all been treated as a precaution. There is a good old repair to the bottom of one leg and the piece is strong and sturdy and displays very well.
