Antique Russian Imperial Court Pocket Watch, Buhre

1900 - 1920
Description

Antique Russian Imperial Court silver half hunter pocket watch by Paul Buhre.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner cover which has an inscription which translates as, 'Paul Buhre, supplier to his Majesty's Court'.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Russian hallmarks inside all three of the outer covers. The front of the case has an image of the Russian Imperial eagle beneath a blue enamel filled ribbon... a little of the enamel is missing. The engine turned detailing to both the front and the back of the case is in good condition, still nice and crisp.

Watches with the Russian Imperial eagle could not be bought by the general public, they were produced strictly on the orders of the Czarist Court.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside the lens is in good condition. The dial is signed ????? ???? (Paul Buhre) and it is in very nice condition. Pin-set hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with its original chain, again with Russian silver hallmarks.

The company of Paul Buhre was founded in St Petersburg in 1815, subsequently acquiring a watch factory in Le Locle, Switzerland. Watches produced at the Swiss factory were sold through showrooms in St Petersburg and Moscow.

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
