A Georgian Dolland of London Stick Barometer

18th century
Description

A fine quality Georgian mercury stick barometer by this noted maker. A mahogany case with an arched pediment. An adjustable vernier scale and cased maked in gilt 'J.C.R.' which is likely to be the first owner. A well engraved silvered dial with scale from 27 to 31. Circa 1795.

Examples of Dolland stick barometers are illustrated in Banfields 'Stick or Cistern Barometers' book. The family worked in the 18th and 19th century producing fine barometers.
