Description

A fabulous and scarce pair of French Opera Glasses by the creme de la creme of makers, LaMaire of Paris. They are signed on both eye pieces incorporating the Napoleonic bee engraved and inked, the mark for LeMaire; the bee is also engraved into the early Aluminium frame.

They are smothered in a rich and iridescent Abalone shell. The telescopic handle is what makes these a rare and unusual find, The handle when pushed in can be turned to a vertical twelve O'clock position and then removed; they can be then replaced when required.

They come complete with a pouch.

Dating to c.1900, they remain in excellent working condition. 4" x 1 1/2" x 2" expanding to 2 1/2"; the handle measures 9 1/2" while fully extended.
