Tall 18th C Delft Gourd Vase

Description

A Tall 18th Century Delft Vase.

The large Delft gourd shape vase with an outward curved rim of octagonal shaping, flowing to an upper gourd, above the tall neck, sweeping downward and outward to the lower octagonal and round gourd. The foot spreading outward and continuing the octagonal shaping. The whole intensely decorated with bands of flowers, the lower gourd and foot decorated with scrolling reserves filled with flowers and foliage, against a leaf and floral decorated background. The underside with makers mark 'JV'.

Date 1770.
