Large Welsh Chapel Settle C.1890.

19th century
Description

Splendid late 19th.c. Welsh chapel bench seat c.1890. High back seats of this type were traditionally set at the front of the chapel below the altar and would have been occupied by senior ministers and church elders. Seven feet long with sturdy moulded pitch pine frame, turned baluster front legs and arm supports topped with large ball finials. Repeated as a half depth moulding on the rear legs. Turned and gilded roundels to the front. Retaining the original buttoned burgundy faux leather upholstery. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Note we also have a matching pair of large armchairs.
