Unique Mahogany Precision Table Regulator By Wm Harrison C1800

Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

We have the pleasure of offering this very rare and unique Mahogany Table Regulator with Harrison maintaining power, Deadbeat escapement, Substantial five pillar movement by William Harrison.
The absolutely stunning lancet case with raised ebony inlay is of the highest quality having beautifully selected veneers and faultless ebony stringing. The quality is carried through to the "secret" door in the base of the front that opens via a key to the side, the door fits absolutely perfectly without any gaps or deviation in its length.
The perfectly white porcelain dial carrying the name Wm Harrison, Walworth, Surry includes a mock hinge to the side of the highly gilt engraved bezel so that the balance of the clock is not affected.
The five pillar movement is a clockmakers example of the best standards available 220 years ago, having knopped pillars that are 1inch in diameter supporting the 1/4 inch sloid brass plates. The wheels all have five spokes and are separately screwed to the arbor via a well made collet. The hammer is shaped to hit two tuned bells simultaneously so that a very pleasant harmony is emitted upon striking. A nice touch is that the hammer tail has a beautiful made roller that runs up and down the hammer spring so that it does suffer from wear. As can be seen from the photographs, the front wheel and lever work have all been skeletonised. Another unusual feature is the "preload" for the fusee has a separate well made brass spring and ratchet, this feature is only required when setting up the clock during assembly.
The half second pendulum having an ebony rod with well made brass plates features a large heavy pendulum bob that is 3.5inches across and 2inches deep. The machined button on thr front of the bob matches the button on the front of the secret door to the case.
