A very original George II Ebonised Bracket Clock by John Everell c1745. John Everell is recorded as working, "Over against the new Church in the Strand". He was apprenticed in 1698 to Edward Norris and died in 1747.
Edward Norris was Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1687, he also took Henry Aske as an apprentice who himself took George Graham as an apprentice before he joined Thomas Tompion in 1696.
An untouched case standing 15 inches high having been made from a fruitwood still retains its original ebonised finish, As can be seen from the photographs there is a little bit of rubbing shown as would be expected from a 300 year old clock. The case has not been repaired in the past and is a delight to see in the flesh.
The 6 inch dial features a mock pendulum and date aperture along with the rarer "flower" spandrels dating this clock to around 1745.
The highly engraved crownwheel (verge) movement featuring a birds and floral scrolls has a quarter chiming pull repeat mechanism that strikes on two bells. The movement has been fully overhauled by me personally and comes with a full three years guarantee for your peace of mind.
This is a very original small bracket clock that is has had very little done to it over the years and therefore is in a lovely untouched condition that is so often missing.
