A Rare George II Walnut Gainsborough Sofa

Description

A rare early 18th century English walnut sofa. Raised on six cabroile legs with foliate and harebell carved knees and unusually shaped pad feet, the down swept arms with carved floral roundels. The sofa is in very original condition and retains all its original elements including the frame which has been upholstered several times. The sofa is a good colour and has a fine waxed patina. 910mm high, 1630mm wide and 850mm deep. Circa 1730
